Music for the Last Judgement by Rogier van der Weyden
Music for the Last Judgement by Rogier van der Weyden
In 1443, the chancellor Nicolas Rolin commissioned the greatest painter of his time to paint a Last Judgement, a sublime object of penance for the sick in the Salle des Pôvres. Just before the altarpiece in Beaune was to undergo a fundamental restoration, the young English singers of Fount & Origin imagined the music, between heaven and hell, between the sword and the lily.
