The Romanesque and early Gothic (Cistercian) church was built between 1200 and 1260. It was built of local stone, granite and limestone.

This very old church is remarkable for its Cistercian architecture, an intimate blend of Gothic and Romanesque styles. It is set in a square, shaded to the north by lime trees surrounding a memorial cross, and to the south by a small herb garden and the remains of the old cemetery (crosses and tombs), as well as a wash-house and a peace tree (lime tree). It's a peaceful place, an invitation to reflect.

Annual opening hours are 9am to 7pm, and on spring and summer days the church is usually open until 9pm.
