This castle was home to a number of illustrious figures: Antoine II de Toulonjon, husband of Françoise de Rabutin-Chantal, daughter of Saint Jeanne de Chantal and aunt of the Marquise de Sévigné; Gabrielle de Toulonjon, wife of Roger de Bussy-Rabutin; and Charles Gravier de Vergennes, minister to Louis XVI.
