Luyârn is a group comprising six singer-musicians and a sound engineer, all deeply influenced by the oral musical traditions of central France and, more specifically, Burgundy.
Luyârn aims to bring together contemporary Burgundian poetry with echoes of Gnawa music, American repetitive music, 13th-century troubadour melodies and samples drawn from hip-hop. Through its musical settings and original arrangements of poems from both past and present, Luyârn creates a new kind of music: ‘trad’actuelle’. Music designed to resist the great temptation of standardisation, normalisation and the rejection of difference. A small light in the night, like that of the Luyârn, the glow-worm.
