In 2012, Elie Guillou travelled to south-east Turkey to meet the dengbejs, traditional singers. There he discovered the plight of the Kurds, a stateless people whose struggle is being suppressed in bloodshed. On his return to France, he struggled to convey this remote emergency. How could he bear witness? And how to live in peace when war exists?

L'homme tempéré explores and questions the relationship between a young man who grew up in a peaceful country and the children, women and men of Kurdistan, whose daily life has been one of war since the beginning of the 20th century. He recounts his anger, his shame at his powerlessness, but also the pain that comes with the test of gentleness.
