Les Gorges de La Canche

Departure point: Roussillon-en-Morvan village hall car park.
Take the path down into the valley to the hamlet of Les Viollots, on the banks of the River Canche.
Cross the bridge, then turn left across the main road.

A few metres further on, climb the Grand Mizieux road to the first sharp bend.
At this point, leave the road for a forest track that climbs steeply.
At the Grandes Ventes forest house, turn right and follow this track to the forest road below.
Take this road, then turn left to reach the entrance to the Canche gorges, passing the hydro-electric power station.

Climb up the gorges following the red and white markings (GR du Tour du Morvan).
At the exit, join the Grandes Ventes forestry road; after around 100 metres, turn right and follow this path for around 2.5 km through the Glenne state forest.
This leads to a tarmac section leading to the hamlet of Grand Mizieux.

In the middle of the hamlet, at the fork in the road, turn right and follow the dirt track to the La Celle-en-Morvan cemetery.
Go along the top of the cemetery, then follow the forest track parallel to the river.
Just after the Mériaux farm, turn left onto the RD 978.
Cross the road and follow the RD2 towards Anost.
Shortly afterwards, turn left, then left again at the first crossroads.
Pass the town hall and the rose garden, then at the fork in the road (Christ on the Cross), turn right again.

At the crossroads in the hamlet of La Croix, turn left.
At Le Fluteau, turn right and follow this track for several kilometres.
On the flat, after the Barbeaux road, take a footpath to the left and follow it to a small road.
Turn left, then 300 m further on, turn right at a pile of stones.

At the end of the path, turn left: the route joins the Route de Roussillon, passing through Aigreveau.
At the pond, turn right onto Route du Chézet.
At the entrance to the village, turn left and walk through the village to return to the village hall, the final point of the loop.
