In its new show Augustodunum offers you a magical journey through time to discover the history of Autun and Burgundy over more than 1500 years.
Come through the gates of time by diving into the memories of Dame Guigone, wife of Nicolas Rolin, and discover the poignant history of our beautiful Burgundy through its most beautiful treasures. You will be immersed in incredible moments such as a fabulous cavalry tournament, the construction of Autun cathedral and the great Roman games; all of this carried away in special effects and pyrotechnics.

To make this journey, we invite you to an exceptional place, the Roman theatre, a vestige of our history. Come and sit where your ancestors sat before you and soak up some of their history!
Augustodunum is 1000 costumes, 600 fireworks and a stage area the size of the Stade de France.

An exceptional show requires an exceptional voice to open the "doors of time":

Passionate about history, Stéphane Bern presents several programmes devoted to French history and heritage and in the 2000s became an emblematic figure in the audiovisual landscape. In order to strengthen his involvement in history and heritage and to inscribe his action in time, he founded in 2016 "The Stéphane Bern Foundation for History and Heritage-Institute". This function is for him an opportunity to do useful work to encourage citizens to defend the teaching of History and to safeguard heritage. In this spirit, it is quite natural that he agreed to lend us his voice for the prologue of our new show in Autun.

Possibility to opt for a Guided Tour before the show:

Founded by the sole will of the emperor Augustus, to whom it owes its name, Autun was built at the end of the 1st century BC, to accommodate the Aedui people of Bibracte.
"Sister and emulator of Rome" is Autun's motto. This is no exaggeration, as Augustodunum was one of the jewels in the crown of Gallo-Roman cultural and commercial life.
Your guide will bring to life the prestige of this ancient city as you visit the Gallo-Roman monuments: the ancient theatre, the Saint-André gate, the Arroux gate, the Temple of Janus and the ramparts.

This one-hour visit includes your seat for the evening show.
This formula, which will take you back in time, is only available on Friday and Saturday nights.
