Rictus ou le caus' tout haut is an invitation to plunge into the poignant world of Jean Rictus, a street poet of the late 19th century, a lucid and deeply moving witness to a working-class, damaged and rebellious Paris. "At night, the whole city is mine I'm like the King...".
The wanderings of a homeless night owl through the streets of Paris... in search of a temporary haven in the midst of the chaos and upheaval of the world.
Urban poetry, popular and slangy... uncompromising... with a subtle and ferocious sense of humour...
By turns resigned, dreamy or rebellious, "the prince of asphalt", as he calls himself, speaks to us as if he were the whole of humanity.
Intimate and fraternal, he confides in us without pretense or pretense.
An electric guitar seems to follow in his footsteps... like a companion through good times and bad... imbuing the poet's words with its vibrations.
