Cycling, wine & gastronomy weekend in Burgundy
From Beaune to Chalon-sur-Saône - UNESCO vineyards, canals and cycle routes

Treat yourself to a cycling weekend in Burgundy, in the heart of a region that is emblematic of French wine and gastronomy. You're in the perfect place to be seduced by the authenticity of Burgundy's vineyards and the gentleness of its countryside.
From Beaune, the capital of Burgundy wines, set off to discover the vineyards listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, before heading for Chalon-sur-Saône, the birthplace of photography, along the Canal du Centre.
The next day, you return to Beaune via the Saône plain, between farmland, ancient forests and safe cycle paths.

    Weekend cycling programme
    Day 1 - Beaune / Chalon-sur-Saône | Côte de Beaune vineyards | ~43 km
Arrive in Beaune in the morning. Meet and greet at our agency located near the town centre, close to the Parc de la Bouzaise. Meet our team for a presentation of your short cycling trip, and pick up your route book, maps, tourist information and bikes.

Depending on what you fancy, you can start by strolling through Beaune: its medieval streets, ramparts, Notre-Dame collegiate church and a break on a terrace in one of the town's many cafés.
You then head for the vineyards on the famous Voie des Vignes, a signposted cycle route through the heart of the Côte de Beaune vineyards. You'll pass through the iconic wine-producing villages of Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet, Meursault, Volnay and Pommard, with plenty of opportunities to visit estates and taste Burgundy wines.

Before arriving in Chalon-sur-Saône, follow the Canal du Centre along an old towpath that has been converted into a cycle path.
And if the wine-tasting goes on too long, you can take the train from Chagny to Chalon-sur-Saône.
    Overnight in Chalon-sur-Saône.

    Day 2 - Chalon-sur-Saône / Beaune | Saône plain | ~45 km
This second day offers an easy cycling route with no major difficulties. You leave Chalon-sur-Saône on a cycle path along the Saône as far as Gergy.
You then continue on the Voie du Tacot, a former railway line converted into a greenway, passing through forests, farmland and peaceful villages.

You arrive in Beaune on gentle, safe routes, leaving you time to enjoy the historic centre and Burgundian atmosphere one last time.
End of the cycling trip in Beaune.
