In 1710, he moved to London, where he introduced Italian opera to a public that had hardly heard of it before.
Rinaldo, the first opera he staged at the Queen's Theatre in Haymarket, which was also the first Italian opera written for a London stage, was a triumph. This was followed by a considerable number of works for the Haymarket Theatre (Teseo, Amadigi) and for the Royal Academy of Music (Radamisto, Giulio Cesare, Tamerlano, Rodelinda, etc).
His works place particular emphasis on the divas of the period, castrati and sopranos.
This programme features arias from some of the most beautiful operas.
