2000 years of history in the bowels of the Rolin Museum
Since March 2023, archaeologists from Archeodunum and SAVA have been exploring two rooms of the Rolin Museum in Autun. This archaeological excavation is part of the future Panoptic Museum, which will combine the current Rolin Museum, the former prison and the courthouse.
The archaeologists are digging to a depth of 5 metres, in an operation that combines cutting-edge technology and high security.
2,000 years of history are revealed under their tools: a Roman wall, medieval houses and a 15th century hotel.
The team working on the site will welcome you on site and will offer you the opportunity to discover, through informal discussions, images and objects, what is hidden in the depths of the Rolin Museum.
Activities: slide show, exhibition of archaeological objects, discussions with archaeologists, overview of the site.
