Les Ateliers Spire Création

Art and shows, Leisure and sciences, Illustration, Painting, Course / Workshop in Saint-Émiland
  • Art workshops for children from 5 years old, for adults to learn to look, feel and express themselves.

  • This rural workshop, the brainchild of the Spire Création association, has just celebrated its 22nd anniversary.
Originally set up in Ligny en Brionnais, in the south of Saône et Loire between Marcigny and Charlieu, the association welcomed its students and trainees in a renovated stable with whitewashed walls. Some people didn't hesitate to come from Gueugnon, Macon, Roanne, Paray le Monial and Marcigny to take part in the sessions and courses.

This rural workshop, the brainchild of the Spire Création association, has just celebrated its 22nd anniversary.

Today, our association has moved to a new location and renewed its office, but it still pursues the same objective: to awaken the creative potential that lies dormant in everyone, to develop training in the plastic arts, to contribute to leisure activities and to encourage intergenerational relations. In fact, depending on the workshops chosen, what could be more delightful than to see people aged over 75 meeting young people or children?

WORKSHOPS FOR CHILDREN AGED 5 AND UP START WITH A STORY TOLD BY Micheyle Marlier. This story, chosen to STIMULATE THEIR IMAGINATION, then gives free rein to free and accompanied expression: drawing, gouache painting, collage, making little books, postcards, masks... depending on the children's desires and the time of year.

FOR OLDER CHILDREN, YOUNG PEOPLE AND ADULTS, we look at the understanding of volumes and their transposition, the question of colours and harmonies, the history of art...
No subject is taboo, and depending on your motivations, the workshop can accommodate on its easels: animals from the countryside or the jungle, boats, landscapes, compositions of objects or floral compositions... documentary studies of objects found in nature... but also live models or fashion design. All techniques are covered: gouache, charcoal and red chalk, pastel, acrylic, watercolour, mixed media, etc.

Micheyle Marlier was delighted to welcome each student to a friendly - and temperate! - environment, with a large garden full of flowers and woodland available for breaks, and to work with them to ensure that their projects progressed successfully.

The course programme focused on deepening the understanding of a composition to highlight its strong points, its light and shade, identifying how shapes and colours affect our emotions and how to express them, and learning and practising how colours complement each other to create harmonies. Each participant was able to discover new painting techniques to enhance their personal expression and creativity,
At the end of each day's course, there was a time for sharing the day's experience and preparing for the next day.
We were delighted with the very fine work produced by the trainees, whether landscapes, compositions of nature, animals or cars, artists' models, portraits or the creation of illustrated books...

Micheyle Marlier is an art teacher, portrait artist and storyteller.
She has exhibited at the Grand Palais in Paris and in galleries in the provinces and Paris; she has won prizes but she no longer exhibits, preferring to devote herself to her students and her studio work.
