Although women played an essential role in the French Resistance during the Second World War, they have often been forgotten by history. The Association for Research on the Occupation and the Resistance in Morvan pays tribute to them through an exhibition it has created. This exhibition "Raconte-moi la Résistance au féminin" (Tell me about the Resistance in the feminine) allows to understand the participation and the actions carried out by them in this clandestine fight. Liaison agent or nurse in the maquis, helping with supplies or accommodation, women took on many tasks essential to the logistics of the Resistance, while running the same risks as men.
22 panels trace the history of women in the Resistance. The beginning of the exhibition reminds us of the fact that their role was hidden for a long time, as well as the situation of women during these dark years when the Vichy policy was to celebrate women as "mothers". The exhibition continues with a presentation of the many actions carried out by Resistance women. Then, alongside heroines of the Resistance such as Lucie Aubrac or Germaine Tillion, there are portraits of more anonymous figures whose role at local level was essential in the Liberation of the Morvan, such as Janette Colas or Louise Aubin.
This exhibition is organised by the association Morvan terre de Résistances-ARORM. To be discovered in the open air, free of charge.
