  • A photographic exhibition by Michel Joly, based on encounters with winegrowers in their day-to-day dealings with climate change.

  • A photographic journey to meet Burgundy's winegrowers and gain a better understanding of their daily lives in the face of climate change. Michel Joly takes a moving look at their concerns: frost, drought, vine decline, but also the urgent need to adapt, biodiversity and sustainable development.

From 1 June to 31 July, "En première ligne" (On the front line) meets winegrowers on a daily basis in the face of climate change.

How is climate change affecting work in the vineyards? Photojournalist Michel Joly provides some answers. Over a period of more than a year, the author-photographer went out to meet winegrowers and document how their work is changing in the face of changing weather patterns. Frost, drought, the decline of the vineyard, but also the urgent need to adapt, biodiversity and sustainable development are at the forefront of their concerns. The works by Michel Joly presented at the Cité are taken from one of the 30 reports produced by the "Le Bal des Rejetons" collective.

The exhibition is organised by Michel Joly, in partnership with the Association des Climats du vignoble de Bourgogne - Patrimoine mondial, the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne and with the support of Rougeot Viti.

This exhibition will be accompanied by a round-table discussion on the theme: "Climate change, a threat to the (world) heritage of the Climats?", on Thursday 27 June, at 6pm at the Cité des Climats et vins de Bourgogne, in Beaune.
