The Ensemble has always been made up of amateur classical musicians from the Greater Autunois Morvan area and neighbouring communes in the Nièvre region. Its repertoire has been divided between vocal and instrumental music, secular and sacred works.

The ARIOSO Ensemble was founded in 1998 by pianist Alain Baquet, who was then a music education teacher at the Collège du Vallon in Autun.
The Ensemble has always been made up of amateur classical musicians from the Greater Autunois Morvan area and neighbouring communes in the Nièvre region. Its repertoire has been divided between vocal and instrumental music, secular and sacred works.
The ensemble has given numerous concerts not only in Autun, but also in many rural communes in a radius stretching from Château-Chinon to Le Breuil.
Since 2014, ARIOSO has taken the form of an independent chamber music ensemble with violins, viola, cello and spinet, focusing its repertoire on works from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
But the members of the Ensemble do not want to restrict themselves to this repertoire. In 2023, they have decided to go from the Baroque period to the 20th century.
